Starr Commonwealth (Michigan & Ohio, USA)

Starr Commonwealth is a multi-faceted, comprehensive agency that serves literally thousands of children, youth, and their families in Michigan and Ohio, USA.  It espouses a strength-based philosophy that seeks to find the good in even the most difficult to manage.

Programs at Starr are for delinquent youth, sexually reactive children, and those with a variety of social, emotional, and behavioral problems.  "Outdoor Challenge" programs approximate those developed by Outward Bound.  Day, residential and foster care programs are also provided. 
 
The "core values" that undergird the mission of Starr Commonwealth are clearly psychoeducational in nature.  It should come as no surprise that Starr offers training in Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI) and in "No Disposable Youth," a program for educators.
